"Pedophile"
Quickly, daylight absorbs this dark –
a white tablecloth soused with wine.
Such stains are difficult to remove.
Morning will fail to hoist the sun
to its proper height. Shadows will
feel ambitious, seek skin where children
scrape naked knees: beneath the monkey
bars, next to see-saws grazing where
gravel spreads thick, tarnished pennies
loiter with cigarette butts, and plastic
shopping bags float as free as ghosts.
